How do you know your virtual training is effective?

Measure the results!

Virtual training can be highly effective and shouldn’t be a watered-down version of an in-person event. Mike Domitrz is the founder of The Center for Respect which conducts in-person and virtual trainings for tens of thousands each year in middle schools, high schools, universities, military installations around the world, and for organizations of all sizes. Mike joined Thom Singer and me on the Webinar Talk Show for a conversation about how they are measuring the effectiveness of virtual trainings on creating a culture of respect, which is the key to an organization’s success, especially during times of fear and confusion.

Key Points about Effective Virtual Training Measurement:

  • Don’t Cancel Your Event! Your people still need professional development and training.
  • Effective training needs well-defined and measurable outcomes.
  • Virtual training allows for significant interaction and engagement.
  • Event planners and HR professionals should look for depth of expertise when choosing a presenter on challenging topics such as sexual violence.
  • Virtual trainings have to compete with answering email and Netflix, engagement is essential.
  • Presenters need to visually entice attendees.
  • Conversation is more engaging than a lecture – a virtual event emcee (or two) is an important part of an event team.
  • And so much more.

Thank you, Mike, for sharing your insights!
